Dear KHA Parents,
It’s with a heavy heart that I write to you about the recent tragic events in a suburban Connecticut school. Students that mirror the ages of our school’s population were victims of a senseless massacre. The events of Friday, December 14, 2012, will be in our hearts and minds for a long time. Of course, our thoughts return immediately to our own students, your children. As parents, you will no doubt, do as our President stated, hug your children a little longer, a little bit tighter.
So at this difficult time, I want to assure all of our families that on a regular basis, KHA staff members receive training to prepare for the possibilities of these events. We have in place systems, procedures, and designated personnel so should the unspeakable occur, we will be prepared to keep your children and our staff as safe as best possible.
We know that this tragedy will have its effects on our students emotionally. Our teachers and staff will be sensitive to possible questions and need to talk about the events. We will be in contact with parents if there appears to be a need for any further follow up. In the meantime, we found a helpful link that may be helpful on how to best address your child’s concerns.
We will continue to monitor the emotional pulse of our students and respond accordingly. If our staff can be of any help to you, please let us know.
We pray for peace, comfort, and the loving presence of our Lord Jesus for the families of the victims. We pray also for continued protection of our student and staff. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
