It’s been about a year now since we went completely with Aerohive access points. There were a few bugs that needed to be worked out, but for the most part it has been nothing short of AMAZING! Before Aerohive we had HP MSM410 APs throughout the building. They proved to be inadequate for class use and extremely unstable. In order move forward with our 21st Century Initiative we needed something more robust. I looked into several providers and time and time again Aerohive was what others recommended for the price and reliability. I was given 2 access points to test for 3 months and it never once failed regardless of what Mr. Burgin and his 7th and 8th graders threw at it. He is our most tech savvy teacher. If anyone would test the boundaries of this device it would be him. In fact, out of the many schools I worked at KHA has by far the most technology capable teachers. The access points needed to work all the time – every time.
With a stable Wi-Fi, teachers are incorporating technology more in their curriculum. Instead of once a week, Ms. Robbins and her 3rd graders are using the laptop cart four times! Ms. Senadenos (1st-2nd grade) and Mrs. Hinton have it three times a week. Our 1:1 laptop program, with the 7th-8th grade, are connected on a daily bases. They have not been burdened down with speed issues or inability to access for long periods of time. The longest might be a period, but that issue has long been worked out thanks a pretty responsive tech support at Aerohive.
